Deniece Cornejo’s legal counsel, Atty. Howard Calleja, said that the 22-year-old model requested for her family’s privacy regarding the controversy she was involved with.
According to social media reports, Deniece Cornej0’s father identified as Dennis Cornejo is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) at a cruise ship while her mother named Milinette Cornejo is a socialite-wannabe plain housewife. Some of her family members are in abroad and others are here in the Philippines.
After Vhong Navarro filed charges on his alleged perpetrators including Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee and six others on Tuesday January 28, 2014, Deniece Cornejo formalized her complaint the following day.
the 37-year-old “It’s Showtime” host charged Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee et al. with “serious physical injuries, grave threat, grave coercion, unlawful arrest, blackmail, and serious illegal detention.”
“May mga tao na ayaw mo lang magpa-TV, ‘diba? But it doesn’t mean na in my office or any other place that we see them or meet them and that we see the support of the family… All I’m saying is that they would like their privacy to be maintained, and that, we respect,” Atty. Calleja said in an interview with ABS-CBNnews.
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage of Vhong Navarro’s visit to the condo unit of Deniece Cornejo, the night the violent incident happened and based on the initial investigations of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Vhong Navarro’s statement is supported by the video recovered.
