The second team-up of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim on the big screen, “Bride for Rent” continues to strengthen its box office performance as it reached P100 million in just four days as announced Saturday night by Star Cinema executive Roxy Liquigan.
In comparison, Chiu and Lim’s previous movie, “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?” in 2013 took over to weeks to earn P100 million.
“Bride for Rent”, a romantic-comedy film, is directed by Mae Czarina Cruz and written by Carmi Raymundo.
The movie features Rocky (portrayed by Kim), whose intense search for a job leads her to join an audition called by Rocco (played by Xian) who is looking for a woman to pretend to be his wife, in the hope of getting his trust fund.
In fear of her family getting evicted from their rented home, Rocky accepted the role which then ended into a long-term act.
In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com on Thursday, Kim expressed her response to the overwhelming support her film got which earned P21.2 million on its first day.
“Sobra kaming thankful and we’re so happy na maraming nanood on its first day, and sana marami pang manood,” Kim said.
“And not just sa mga fans namin, kundi sa mga normal moviegoers, maraming salamat. Nanood talaga sila ng movie, at kahit ‘yung mga hindi nanonood ng Tagalog movies, nanood sila this time. So we’re so happy, and so thankful,” she added.
“Bride for Rent” is still showing in over 100 theaters nationwide and will continue to hit box office record.
The film also stars Pilita Corrales, Tirso Cruz III, Dennis Padilla, Matt Evans, Martin del Rosario, and Empoy.
